DURILLIUM B

*A Technological Breakthrough In Wear Resistant Surface Treatments *

Durillium B is a compound that is applied by a  thermal diffusion process into the surface of most carbon bearing steel alloys, tungsten carbide and refractory metals resulting in an extremely dense and stable hard surface that exhibits outstanding resistance to abrasion and chemical attack over a wide temperature range. It also lowers surface friction and extends wear life in most applications. Durillium B can be deposited to a depth of 0.001 in. to 0.01 in. with minimal dimensional change (typically 0.002 in. for 0.004 in. penetration).

Durillium B will mirror the surface quality of its substrate and can be applied into a diamond polished surface. A Durillium B surface can be polished to within a light band of flatness and < 1 micro inch of roughness in order to reclaim the original surface quality. In addition, the surface demonstrates a surprising degree of lubricity.

Care and Handling

The Durillium B surface is brittle and will not withstand impact or shock.  When installing Durillium B processed parts, do not use hammers, pry bars, screw drivers or other hard objects against the processed surface. Do not expose Durillium B processed parts to Nitric Acid.
